Autism Ontario York Region

Autism Ontario York Region Chapter was formed in 1987 by a small group of families with autistic children, who were unable to find summer day camp programs.  They ran their own camp in their own backyards.

We are one of 25 chapters of Autism Ontario.  We remain true to our volunteer roots, and are directed and managed by a dedicated group of parent volunteers. We are the proud families of children, youth and adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorders, their extended family members and our supporting professionals. Our Chapter Office receives no government funding. All programs and services are made possible through the generous support of our community.

Our Mission is to ensure that each individual with an Autism Spectrum Disorder is provided the means to achieve quality of life as a respected member of society. We believe that people with an ASD deserve acceptance, community and opportunity.

York Chapter Leadership Council

The Chapter Leadership Council is made up of volunteers.  Generally they are parents of autistic children and adults, but may also be interested members of the community.  The CLC is elected annually at our Annual General Members’ meeting.  They help to shape the direction of our chapter.
